ANSWERS CASFS is an IRS recognized 501(c)3 non-profit organization. CASFS stands for Central Arizona Speculative Fiction Society. Members work together to promote and educate others about the multifaceted world of science, science fiction and fantasy. What conventions does CASFS sponsor? CASFS sponsors several different conventions including SmerfCons, PhringeCons, CopperCons, HexaCons and WesterCons. CopperCon was created in 1981 and HexaCon was created in 1990. What are the benefits to being a CASFS member? Besides dining with your friends monthly, enjoying social gatherings, and learning new things? Of course, there is the bi-monthly subscription to ConNotations, the science fiction newszine. Volunteering for various events and conventions is a bonus. CASFS was incorpororated in 1979 or 1980. Where are the meetings held? Our meetings are held on the last Friday of the month, except for October, November and December when we switch to the second Friday of the month. Our current location is Denny's Restaurant located at 2360 W Northern Ave (Northern Ave just east of I-17 on the north side of the street), Phoenix AZ 85021 Our meetings begin at 8PM but many of us meet earlier to socialize over dinner. |
