CopperCon 30 Filk Schedule
Updated 08/23/2010 Our Filk Guest is Mark Horning noted for his Rocket Songs of the New Non NASA Space Era and for his Libertarian Songs. We will have a panel for new Filkers Mark will have two panels. At nine o'clock on Saturday morning he will lead a discussion on the possibility of hosting a regional Filk Con in Arizona every other year alternating with one of the California Cons. At Noon on Saturday in his Filk GoH panel he will do whatever he likes but will likely discuss his songs and their relationship to his science background. His concert will be at 2:30 on Saturday. At 9:00 p.m. Also Saturday he will lead our Filk Circle. He will also attend the Meet the Pros on Friday evening at 8 p.m. and the Meet the Guests on Sunday at 10 a.m.

Filk Concert Sat 9:00 p.m. until dawn or exhaustion -- Filk Circle in the Annex Sun 10a-1130a, Court B Meet the Guests Mark Horning -- Bio Mark Horning is a Physicist hailing from the East Valley. Originally from California, he moved to Arizona in 1996. An avid folk musician, he is known for his space and SF based songs, he is often found in the company of a 6 or 12 string guitar. His first professional CD, Space & Freedom, was officially released at the 62nd annual Westercon, in Temp AZ. Mark has physics degrees from Cal Poly (BS), San Luis Obispo, and Arizona State (MS). While at ASU, he developed a hybrid lighting system to calibrate the sensors used in the Vatican Advanced Technology Telescope (VATT) located at the Mt. Graham Observatory. Mark works in the aerospace industry designing and certifying lighting solutions for aircraft and ground applications. He may often be found at conventions with his wife and three children who are, naturally, also SF fans. -- Gary Swaty |
