Examples of unfinished and finished models will be displayed and painting techniques will be demonstrated. These models are specific to anime and roleplaying games and will use advanced techniques. It shows the dark, elegant and slightly gothic side of cosplay and how much fun it can be. We will discuss costuming, makeup and EGA, or Elegant Gothic Aristocrat (male). This panel will show and discuss cosplay and how even the newest fan can dress as their favorite anime character. From the simplest to the most difficult, cosplaying will be explained step-by-step. This panel will demonstrate how to put together manga pages and character designs, drawing techniques concerning human anatomy, colorizing, animation and web design. An introduction to cultural icons used in anime. We will discuss some of the stereotypes used by the Japanese to convey special meaning. Reasons why one character looks significantly different from all the other characters in the story and why; or standard cultural references to folk heroes and legends that a US audience might not know. This panel is particularly aimed at the audience without previous knowledge of anime. It will explain what makes anime unique to its culture and mythology. Fri 5p-6p, Palm F. We will examine the effect that the atomic bombing in Japan had and still has on the Japanese culture and throughout their anime.
