L.E. Modesitt, Jr.
Official Website

L. E. Modesitt, Jr., was born in 1943 in Denver, Colorado. He graduated from Williams College under the delusion that poetry was considered respectable and that fantasy and science fiction were not, a mistake he now attributes to youthful enthusiasm.

He has been a delivery boy; a lifeguard; an unpaid radio disc jockey; a U.S. Navy pilot; a market research analyst; a real estate agent; director of research for a political campaign; legislative assistant and staff director for a U.S. Congressman; Director of Legislation and Congressional Relations for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency; a consultant on environmental, regulatory, and communications issues; and a college lecturer and writer in residence. In addition to his novels, Mr. Modesitt has published technical studies and articles (generally with boring titles), columns, poetry, and a number of science fiction stories. His first story was published in 1973.

Mr. Modesitt has weathered eight children, a fondness for three-piece suits, a brown Labrador, a white cockapoo, a Siamese rabbit, and various assorted pet rodents. Finally, in 1989, to escape nearly twenty years of occupational captivity in Washington, D.C., he moved to New Hampshire. There he married a lyric soprano, and he and his wife Carol moved to Cedar City, Utah in 1993, where she directs the opera program at Southern Utah University and he continues to create and manage chaos.
Stephenie Meyer

Excerpted from Stephenie's Bio on her website:

I was born in Connecticut in 1973, during a brief blip in my family's otherwise western U.S. existence. We were settled in Phoenix by the time I was four, so, considering that I have twenty-seven Arizona summers under my belt, I think of myself as a native. The unusual spelling of my name was a gift from my father, Stephen ( + ie = me ). Though I have had my name spelled wrong on pretty much everything my entire life long, I must admit that it makes it easier to google myself now.

Twilight is my very first novel, and it has been a crazy, rollercoaster-sans-seatbelts experience from the very beginning. (If you're interested in more about the writing of Twilight, click the "twilight" button just to the left of this lame, rambling autobiography. (Sorry for being Capt. Obvious.))

Right now, I'm deeply involved in the editing for book two (more about that in "Other Novels"), getting ready for my first book tour, dealing with five separate drop-off and pick-up times for my kids' schools, and working with a nice personal trainer named Steve in a doomed attempt to erase the evidence that my body has carried three large children to term.

He's climbed volcanoes in the Ring of Fire, fished for sharks in the North Atlantic, been mauled by an angry kitten off the coast of Turkey, learned the meaning of defenestration in France, and even jumped off a a cliff in Greece. His interests span a wide spectrum: archaeology, linguistics, mythology, cosmology, conspiracy theory, religion and a host of others. At the same time, he managed to catapult himself to the top of his game in a Fortune 100 company doing what some idly speculated to be nothing less than international computer espionage.

But there was always the desire to change the world around him. And since the age of fifteen, he had become obsessed with writing as a means to this end. Year after year, he labored to prefect his craft, until he felt the time was right. In 2000, he teamed up with J.S. Lewis and with an eye to the stars, they launched The Revenge of the Shadow King.

Janeen O'Kerry

Growing up in the military, I lived in many places -- California, Germany, Washington D.C., Texas, and Ohio.  And like many writers, I’ve held a number of different jobs -- everything from computer programmer to horseback riding instructor.   My writing career began in 1984 when I sold the first of over 100 non-fiction articles written for the national and regional horse magazines.  A few years later, a friend and I decided to try our hand at novels. We wrote three and sold the third one, APRIL'S CHRISTMAS, to Avalon Books in 1994.

My own first novel was LADY OF FIRE, a time-travel romance published by Leisure Books in 1996.  I've always had a great interest in Ireland, history, horses and fantasy, and truly enjoy combining all these things in my novels.

I now live in beautiful Arizona with my family, my cat, and my five-gaited American Saddlebred pleasure horse . . . and I know that “home” is with the people you love, no matter where that may be.

Will Shetterly - a biography

I live in Tucson, Arizona, with my wife, Emma Bull, and our cat, Toby, the Terror of the West. I writes novels, screenplays, short stories, and comic books. When I was a boy, I lived at a tourist attraction attraction called Dog Land that inspired my novel, Dogland.

In 1994, I ran for Governor of Minnesota and finished third in a field of six. My politics are eclectic. My greatest political concern is democracy. I believe vox populi, vox dei: the voice of the people is the voice of God.

One year, I worked on my parents' trading post at Rat Rapids, Ontario, where my duties included carrying 100 pound bags of wild rice. You would think that would make me hate it, but it's one of my favorite foods.

It really isn't worth watching Toxic Zombies for my very brief appearance at the end. But it is worth baking Shetterly's Finest-Kind Cookies.

Will's mid 1990's comic Captain Confederacy has been in the news recently and he has been making the issues available online at http://captainconfederacy.blogspot.com/

Evo Terra: talk show host, musician, herbalist, author, podcaster, cult leader, podiobooks evangelist. Classic Type A personality. Pathetic, isn't he?

Evo's always felt a certain affinity to science fiction, and is appreciative of a good author's ability to provide a different perspective on the world at large. He joined The Dragon Page in April of 2002 and has loved almost every minute of it. Except for that freak pencil sharpener accident we'd all prefer to forget.

Prior to that, Evo had a semi-successful career as a semi-professonal musician with a semi-ska/punk band. He's a bass player, so the "muscian" moniker is given with some trepidation. But he is a real-live herbal therapist, though he hasn't had much chance to ply his trade what with all the dedication he gives to the other projects in his life. Speaking of which...

He feels quite at ease talking with authors, being an author himself. Of course, he primarily talks with fiction authors, where he scribes in the land on non-fiction. But who's counting? Oh, and the cult leader thing is currently in progress. You interested?

Evo is currently hosting three weekly podcasts with Michael R. Mennenga, The Dragon Page Cover to Cover, The Dragon Page Wingin' It, and Slice of Sci Fi.  He has also co-written Podcasting for Dummies with Tee Morris.
