Ricardo Montalban
November 25, 1920 - January 14, 2009

Ricardo Montalban, the Mexican-born actor who was best known as the wish-fulfilling Mr. Roarke in TV's Fantasy Island, and as Khan Noonien Singh in the Star Trek (1966) episode Space Seed and Star Trek: The Wrath of Khan (1982) has died at his home. He was 88.

Montalban is survived by his daughters Laura and Anita, sons Victor and Mark and six grandchildren.

Who shows not only talent
With his style and voice
But also with his head

Is knighted for his Catholic faith.
He is awarded an Emmy and life achievement.
He is forever remembered to Star Trek fans as "Khan!"
In Memory of Ricardo Montalban


The last time I saw him was in a wheelchair. I was at a Star Trek convention in 1990s in which Mr. Montalban made his first appearance. Strange, but the crowd was giving one great Star Trek villain, a standing ovation. He smiled and waved.

I had waited a few hours in line to get his autograph. Ricardo was generous and kind to all comers. He was a gentleman. Star Trek lost a great actor- Jeffrey Lu.
