June Patton

Donna June Patton, the owner of The Bent Cover bookstore at 28th Drive & Cactus, suffered a stroke Thursday night, January 13, 2005. It was a very serious stroke and there was no hope of recovery. She was removed from life support Saturday and passed very quickly after that. June was 59 years old.
She is survived by her son, Richard and his wife, Susan, and five grandchildren, James Dean, Richard Thomas, Jack Riley Wyatt, Diantha June Gourdin and Thomas Andres Schlagenhaft, and several siblings. June's top priority was to see her grandchildren taken care of and educated. If you wish to make a donation to June's grandsons in lieu of flowers, the family would greatly appreciate it. Her viewing was Monday, January 17th, from 5-8pm at Hanson Mortuary at 8314 N. 7th St, Phoenix. The funeral was Tuesday at 10am at the same location.
June touched thousands of people over the years and will be desperately missed by many. Last year she decided to clean up her store by sending books to our soldiers in Iraq and had sent over 15,000 books. Several soldiers visited her while on leave to thank her. Many more sent letters, pictures and t-shirts. She left a hole in space that cannot be filled.
