I remember him in the 1990's
Guarding and guiding
Deforest "He's Dead, Jim" Kelly
In Creation Phoenix Star Trek Convention.

He was in
His red shirt
Blazing black letters
Saying, "United Federation of Phoenix."

His passion pointed to the stars
As he helped as chairman in many meetings
To found and bound his love
Of space and time.

He was a man
Who was not only
Behind the curtain,
But also behind the camera.

He was a friend
To the very end
As he was selected as Phoenix team member
In Star Trek First Contact Contest.

One day, he teleported out
With pain to the heart
And left a chair
To be filled.

Yet, I am sad to say I'm last
To read the words in print,
"Oh God! Jim's dead."
