Key to Conflict
by Talia Gryphon
Ace, 325 pp, $7.99
Meet Dr. Gillian Key, a pint size doll with attitude, and a Glock, a psychologist to the paramortals with issue. Oh yes, also a Marine Corps special forces operative. Gillian’s worlds collide when she goes to the Carpathian mountains to council with the Master Vampire, Count Aleksei Rachlav. The Count may have issues but his therapy lets him infiltrate the local vampire faction. Dracula has returned to take over the world and fill his larder. What fun. Throw in some handsome undead hunks, loveable werewolves, and a ghost-seducer with the blood of Dracula in his veins, life gets interesting.
Plenty of action, lots of fun, and a little romance make for a great escape from the mundane. Looks like a set up for a series. I’ll be waiting for the next one. - Pam Allan
