Tom and Wilma Weston were on a romantic fun cruise aboard the Sea King. Only Tom, a retired coast guard captain, was aware that gateways to parallel worlds had been discovered and knew what the mist bank that appeared on the surface of the sea meant. When the 19th century warship appeared, he told the captain how they could get back to his own world. He also rescued a sailor who had been press ganged and his fiancee.

When gates started opening at random letting in pirates and warships from a world that had destroyed itself with nuclear and biological weapons terror came to the high seas and the vacation went by the way.

Lots of sea battles from different time lines and some well drawn characters. An auspicious debut with a 75 year old protagonist that saves lives. A name to look for. ~~ Pam Allan
