Of Truth and Beasts
by Barb and J.C. Hendee
Roc, $26.95, 440 pp
Of Truth and Beasts continues the Noble Dead series.

Wynn has returned safely to the Guild of Sagecraft with her companions, vampire Chane Andraso, and her Elven wolf, Shade. She has regained her journals, but not the ancient volumes penned by vampires. What she has gained is fierce animosity of the guild. They send her on a tedious journey designed to keep her away carrying messages that deny her guild support.

Wynn has her own plans and though she delivers the messages, she follows her own seeking the orb of spirit. She knows it involves the dwarf King of Slaughter and his descendant won't let her out of his sight. If only that were all she has to worry about.

The Noble Dead series is epic fantasy full of action and intrigue with Tolkienesque characters. The plot, characters and world are all beautifully drawn. This may well eclipse the Lord of the Rings. [I have hated donating these to the Library but their Sci-fi Fantasy budget is virtually non existent. ] You'll want them all. I do. ~~ Pam Allan
