The King of the Crags
by Stephen DEAS
Penguin, $25.95, 384pp
The King of the Crags is the second volume of The Memory of Flames.

Prince Jehal's lover, Zafir has become the Speaker, ruling the realms with hundreds of dragons and their riders awaiting her call. Jehal wants everything she has but may not have to act as she goes too far putting the royal family on trial for treason. Jehal doesn’t fear rumors of the Red Riders appearance, heralds of revolution and doom, but does fear the return of the white dragon. What does he mean by "Little one, I am hungry"

The plot is character driven, but the action moves so swiftly you hardly have time to breath. The inscrutable dragons are definitely up to something. I can't wait to see where the next volume will take me. This ain't your traditional dragon fantasy. This Is an Author Not Only to Watch but to Read. ~~ Pam Allan
